Metal futon parts
In the late 1980s, metal frame futons became an industry standard. What is known as the slider mechanism became increasingly popular and most effective. The futon parts essential to this version were the horizontal slider and the vertical slider. The horizontal slider would let the cushion move from front to back when converting from sofa to bed or vice versa. The vertical slider, on the other hand, allowed the it to move up and down when converting. This metal futon hardware was durable and unbreakable, which was key in that time since many would break or malfunction during conversion.
